Copenhagen

Isn't it amazing to jump on a train and a plane to be somewhere completely different over the weekend?

Wanderlust sometimes pushes us all around the globe but in Europe so many places are just right outside our doorstep.

Copenhagen-bound.

A quick one hour flight aboard KLM's Cityhopper Embraer E190 and touchdown in Copenhagen Airport. Then aboard the Metro line towards our hotel we noticed that one thing was missing: A driver. The fully autonomous trains make their way through the fenced off tracks or underground tunnels with its modern stations.

Three stops later: CPH Studio Hotel. Copenhagen in general is rather expensive yet this hotel was the best-looking one that I found and still not the most expensive. Very hipster and minimal. Highly recommended :)

The weather in Copenhagen was something one could describe as: Meeeh....

Some splatters of sun with loads of clouds and wind. But the city itself is really nice, nice supermarkets, great Dutch design and some modern fancy architecture.

While Copenhagen is located at sea and also has some canals with the touristy photo spots it doesn't feel like that throughout the city like Amsterdam for example does. There are still very dense city districts with loads of traditional buildings. It's somehow feels more like Berlin than Amsterdam.

Food-wise there's a huge selection like in any other big city. We went to Warpigs which is located on a large compound which seemed to be the former meatpacking district. We read about this place in the Monocle Copenhagen guide and thought it would be worth checking out. It turned out to be insanely crowded with some Metal-style live music. Very mixed audience with German tourists among locals.

The food options were interesting: You had meat, then there was meat and also some other meat. Oh and a more vegetarian option plus a selection of about two dozen beers. Later on we found out that it was their anniversary party, hence the very crowded place. Still a recommendation for everyone visiting Copenhagen!

A few more moments with sunshine would have been nice, but still a very cool city to visit!
