Podcasts are my new favorite thing. Back to-the-roots, simple, linear, audio files with great insights, reports and conversations. Love it!
Here are my some of my favorites that I listen to regularily. My podcast app of choice is "Casts" on iOS which has push notifications, auto-downloads and a sync feature to a web interface.
Sounds Good by Branden Harvey
Certainly one of my favorite podcasts. Branden chats to inspiring people with a generally positive mindsets. Very uplifting and great to listen!
The Urbanist by Monocle24
Monocle's own in-house internet radio station Monocle24 hosts a variety of great series that are also available as podcasts (e.g. The Briefing, a daily start into the news day).
The Urbanist does a really good job of giving a general overview of all things around Smart City, urban development and city life but also highlights interviews with known and unknown leaders in this field through their worldwide network of reporters.
The Journal by Kevin Rose
Kevin Rose is probably best known for his role as the co-founder of Digg and venture partner of GV (Google Ventures) which also reflects in his podcast. He's joined by mostly tech folks and entrepreneur guests that share insights into their businesses and life.
Tomorrow with Joshua Topolsky
Joshua Topolsky is one of the guys in the tech industry that many people know. He was editor-in-chief of Engadget, then founded The Verge; left for Bloomberg; quit; founded The Outline.
In his podcast he talks to other tech journalists and colleagues. It's rather fun to listen and interesting to get their opinion on the latest tech developments. (My replacement for the Vergecast since their team changed.)
Let's give a Damn by Nick Laparra
I'd say it is similar to Sounds Good with guests that care about a certain topic and made changes im said field ("gave a Damn"). Deep conversations. Great to listen to.
The Daily by The New York Times
Daily 15-20 min News podcast with conversations and reports from NYT reporters about current topics. Not the general overview type-of-podcast but more focused on specific topics.
Inside The Times by The New York Times
Great podcast sharing insight stories how the NYT news team works.
Clublife by Tiësto
And finally a weekly 2 hour podcast mix from the great DJ Tijs Michiel Verwest better known as Tiësto including a special 15min guest mix. Mostly feaures Dance, House music which is a great mix for running or the gym.
The first hour is available as a free podcast, the second hour is available exclusively in his free Clublife app.
I'm sure I'm missing out on some great podcast. What's your favorite and why? Send me a message on Twitter or share it below in the comments. Would love to include some more in this article and keep it up-to-date with your suggestions!
